The Vikings

This is an 11th century stirrup mount. I like to call it Viking but the official line is “Anglo-Scandinavian” as both the Viking invaders and the locals used them.

I love to imagine who was riding his horse around Colchester a thousand years ago with his boot in a stirrup attached to this little copper alloy mount.
