
I say “possibly” because rings like this have been found in Bronze Age hoards but were known still to be in use in Roman Britain.
That means this ring was made somewhere between 1000 BC and 410 AD and was likely used either as a horse harness fitting or as part of a chain from which a cauldron would have hung.
